Polish football club Pogoń Szczecin has terminated the employment contract of Rafał Chlasta after he posted offensive comments about late journalist Andrzej Morozowski. The club announced on Friday, August 7, that Chlasta was relieved of his duties during his notice period and asked to resign from the management board.
Chlasta had commented on social media platform X regarding the death of TVN journalist Andrzej Morozowski, using vulgar language to describe him as a propagandist. Pogoń Szczecin owner Alex Haditaghi reacted almost immediately on Twitter, stating that the shameful and offensive words did not reflect the values or standards of the club. Haditaghi added that while differences of opinion belong in public life, dehumanizing language after someone died would not be tolerated.
Club statement and owner apology
In an official statement, Pogoń Szczecin S.A. confirmed that Chlasta's contract was ended as a direct consequence of his post on X. Haditaghi issued an attached statement saying the comments hurt the deceased journalist's family, friends, and colleagues. He emphasized that basic norms of humanity and respect must take priority over football, politics, or personal views.
Haditaghi confirmed that all termination documents were delivered to Chlasta and offered a sincere apology on behalf of the club. He noted that as a relatively new resident of Poland, he will always defend what is right and insists that Pogoń Szczecin remain a symbol of responsibility and community.
Pogoń Szczecin is currently preparing for its third Ekstraklasa match of the season. The team will play at home against Motor Lublin on Saturday, August 8 at 5:30 p.m.
