On Tuesday, the Sochi team officially confirmed the lease of 18-year-old striker Michkov from SKA until the end of the current season. Last season, SKA already loaned Michkov to Sochi, where he scored 20 (9+11) performance points in 27 matches of the KHL regular season.
– I think it’s the right decision. Matvey will have more freedom and playing time, which means he will progress. Michkov is still young and therefore has not been able to gain a foothold in SKA. It’s a coaching decision: maybe Matvey doesn’t yet fit into the team’s playing pattern. I hope he doesn’t get lost like a lot of guys did, he has all the qualities needed for that. Hockey players are like flowers: they all grow differently. There are Malkin and Ovechkin who started playing early, and there are players who need more time. Matvey is not 25 years old, which means he has time,” Kozhevnikov told RT.
