Jagiellonia Białystok vice-president and managing director Maciej Szymański has addressed speculation over the future of head coach Adrian Siemieniec. Speaking on the Polsat Sport programme "Cafe Futbol," Szymański said the club believed Siemieniec would stay not only this season but longer, adding that Siemieniec was already a historic figure at the club and that Jagiellonia hoped to keep writing that history together with him.
Contract and buyout clause
Siemieniec took charge of Jagiellonia on April 4, 2023, in what was his first job at this level, having previously worked as a little-known reserve team coach. Under him the club won its first Polish championship title just over a year later, followed by bronze medals in the following two Ekstraklasa seasons, plus two appearances in the Conference League's knockout phase, including a quarter-final in the 2024/25 season.
His contract was extended four months ago and includes a buyout clause worth about one million euros. Szymański said the club was aware of the contractual terms and that it was natural to monitor the coaching market and potential successors, but stressed that this was not currently under consideration, even taking into account the formal obligations binding the club.
Widzew links dismissed
Siemieniec has been linked with a move to Widzew Łódź after former Jagiellonia sporting director Łukasz Masłowski was confirmed to be joining the club. Szymański rejected any prospect of accepting an offer from the Ekstraklasa side, saying Jagiellonia did not need that.
Jagiellonia has started the 2026/27 season strongly, beating Korona Kielce and Motor Lublin in the league and defeating Scotland's Rangers FC in the first leg of the Europa League third qualifying round. Widzew Łódź, still without a win this season, visits Jagiellonia's stadium on Słoneczna Street in round three of the Ekstraklasa.
