Globo dismissed sports journalist Joanna de Assis on Wednesday after 20 years at the broadcaster. The decision stems from a reorganization process at the sports channel, which intends to change programming and introduce a new sports model.
De Assis hosted the afternoon show Tá On on SporTV, taking over as the main presenter in March of last year. She also joined the presenter rotation for Globo Esporte SP on Saturdays and conducted interviews with coaches and players for the sports channel.
Career at Globo
De Assis joined Globo in 2006. Over her two decades at Grupo Globo, she worked as a broadcast reporter, served as an international correspondent in the United States in 2016, and covered major sporting events including the World Cup and the Olympic Games. She also featured on the program Bem, Amigos!, hosted by Galvão Bueno.
