Russian figure skaters Alexandra Ignatova (Trusova) and Petr Gumennik were also granted neutral status. The International Skating Union allowed Russian athletes to compete in tournaments under its auspices in neutral status starting from the 2026/2027 season.

Doping Suspension and Stripped Titles

Valieva served a four-year ban for doping over the past four years. She was stripped of her gold medals from the European Championship, the Russian Championship, and the 2022 Olympic Games team event alongside the entire Russian team.

Alexander Zhulin, a two-time Olympic medalist and honored coach of Russia, previously called Valieva the last extraordinary figure skater in Russia. According to Zhulin, there are currently no other athletes like her in the country.
