FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta reappeared publicly on Tuesday, a week after announcing on social media that doctors had reversed a heart arrhythmia, to formalize the signing of young Belgian winger Jesse Bisiwu's contract through June 30, 2031.
The private ceremony, held at the Spotify Camp Nou offices, was largely a formality. The club had already announced the transfer on July 31 of the 18-year-old player from Club Brugge for around 8.5 million euros, and Bisiwu joined training the following day under coach Hansi Flick.
Team returns from England training camp
Barcelona's squad finished a week-long stay at St. George's Park on Monday, the English Football Association's training center located 50 kilometers from Birmingham. The team will have two days of rest before returning to work on Thursday at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper.
Bisiwu's role this preseason
Bisiwu will remain with the first team's training group, though registered with the reserve squad. Flick wants to evaluate him during preseason before deciding whether he joins the senior squad, as happened last year with Swedish player Roony Bardghji, or begins the season with Barça Atlètic.
