Serb will return to the first line of the world rankings
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic became Australian Open 2023 winner. In the final, he defeated the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets.
In the first game, the fourth game became the key – the Serb took someone else’s serve and confidently kept the advantage. In the second and third sets, Novak finished off Stefanos in tie-breaks. Moreover, in the second tie-break, Djokovic led 5-0 and almost missed the victory, missing three match points.
The Serbian tennis player won the tenth of the ten finals played in Melbourne, including the fourth in a row in which he took part.
In general, Djokovic has already played 33 Grand Slam finals and celebrated his 22nd victory. The trophy in Melbourne allowed the Serb to catch up in this indicator with Rafael Nadal, who also has 22 wins in the major finals and was the sole leader in the number of titles won.
On Monday, Djokovic will return to the top spot in the world rankings for the first time since last June.
