Ukrainian men’s futsal team suffered a major defeat from Brazil in the second round of the international friendly tournament in Jonava, Lithuania – 2:7.
The Brazilians shocked Alexander Kosenko’s team with a strong start, scoring four times in the period from the fifth to the eighth minutes. By the 12th minute the score was already 0:5, Da Silva and Pascual scored doubles.
In the second half there was already an equal game. The Ukrainians managed to seal the gates of their status opponents twice (goals by Daniil Abakshin and Andrey Melnik), in response, the Brazilians also scored twice.
The tournament will end for the blue-yellows with a meeting against France, which beat Brazil 3:2 in the first round. The match will take place tomorrow, April 16, at 17:00.
Competitions in Lithuania are one of the stages in the preparation of the Ukrainian national team for the 2024 World Cup, which will be held in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6. Kosenko’s team qualified for the tournament by beating Poland (5:3) in the decisive match of the elite round of qualification. The draw for the 2024 World Cup will take place in Tashkent this summer.
