Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo reported that Panathinaikos has built a roster that strikes terror in Europe following major summer transfers. The publication named Panathinaikos the top favorite to win the European trophy next season.
The moves followed a poor previous season for Panathinaikos, which prompted Dimitris Giannakopoulos to take action. Ergin Ataman departed, and Zeljko Obradovic returned to lead the team after 14 years away.
Squad changes
Panathinaikos then signed players Moustapha Fall, Brancou Badio, Isaac Bonga, Guerschon Yabusele and Sylvain Francisco. El Mundo Deportivo noted the great value of players in every position across the roster.
Euroleague placed Panathinaikos at the top of its first power ranking ahead of the new season, an assessment supported by El Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish newspaper stated that performance on the court will show what the team can achieve under Obradovic.
