Scottish golfer Scott Jamieson won the Nexo Championship at Trump International Golf Links in Scotland on Sunday, ending a 14-year wait for a DP World Tour title.
Jamieson overturned a two-stroke deficit during the final round, shooting a five-under-par 67 to finish at 11 under overall. He finished two shots clear of England's Matthew Jordan, while overnight leader Shaun Norris faded following a mid-round two-shot penalty.
Jordan secured second place at nine under, while England's Andy Sullivan took third spot. Spain's Quim Vidal, Sweden's Marcus Kinhult and Japan's Keita Nakajima shared fourth place on six under, with Norris a further stroke back in a tie for seventh.
Final round leaderboard and front nine action
Jamieson began the final round trailing Norris by two strokes but quickly made progress on the front nine. He took advantage of the par-five fourth hole with a birdie before adding back-to-back birdies at the seventh and eighth holes, where he holed a 25-foot putt.
The three birdies brought Jamieson to the turn in three-under 33. That score put him into a tie for the lead alongside Norris as both players prepared to tee off at the tenth hole.
However, the standings changed before the pair played their tenth tee shots. Tournament officials assessed South Africa's Norris a two-shot penalty for breaching Rule 8.1, which covers player actions that improve conditions affecting a stroke.
Norris had kicked a replaced divot from beneath his feet on the fifth fairway, which officials judged to have illegally improved his stance. The penalty turned his original par on the fifth hole into a double-bogey six.
Jamieson pulls ahead on the back nine
Jamieson capitalized immediately on taking the outright lead. He birdied the tenth and eleventh holes, completing a run of four birdies across five holes to open up a three-shot lead over the field.
His only mistake of the day came at the par-three 13th hole, where he failed to get up and down from a bunker to save par. He answered with a birdie at the 14th hole, where Norris also made birdie by sinking a 65-foot putt.
Jamieson sealed his victory by closing with four consecutive pars. Norris suffered another setback on the final hole, where a double bogey capped a four-over 76 and dropped him into a tie for seventh at five under.
Jordan, who played in the final group alongside Jamieson and Norris, rebounded from a bogey at the 17th hole by birdieing the 18th to claim second place outright.
Player reactions and tournament context
The victory was Jamieson's first on the DP World Tour since winning the Nelson Mandela Championship in December 2012. Norris congratulated Jamieson on the 18th green after the round concluded.
Jamieson expressed relief after completing the victory. "Fourteen years, that's wild," Jamieson said. "It's just so tough, so hard to win. I was so patient all day... just can't believe I've won."
