Team Europe captain Anna Nordqvist has sent Charley Hull out first in Sunday's singles at the Solheim Cup, despite the Englishwoman managing just half a point from her opening four matches. Team Europe head into the final day at Bernardus Golf tied 8-8 with Team USA.
Hull will lead out Europe for the second successive Solheim Cup. Two years ago she thrashed Nelly Korda 6&4 in the same opening slot of the Sunday singles.
"Charley started us out in Washington (2024 Solheim Cup) and we know all that Charley's been playing great for the last two days," Nordqvist said. "She really hasn't holed any putts. I watched her match today, this afternoon, for quite a few holes and she's right there where she needs to be."
"It's just that little bit of momentum (she needs), that we all know is so important in the matches," she added. "I have full confidence in her going out tomorrow and I don't think she really has anything to prove, because we know all of what a great player she is."
Hull's tough Saturday
Hull partnered Lottie Woad to two defeats on Saturday. The pair suffered the joint-biggest foursomes defeat in Solheim Cup history, losing 6&5 to Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin, before a final-hole loss to Yealimi Noh and Andrea Lee.
Hull and Megan Khang get the singles under way at 11.10am local time (10.10am BST).
Sunday singles line-up
Esther Henseleit, runner-up at the AIG Women's Open, goes out second against Alison Lee, who won each of her three matches so far this week. Angel Yin returns after sitting out Saturday's fourballs to face the unbeaten Linn Grant.
World No 1 Nelly Korda plays Mimi Rhodes, who has won both her matches on debut, before Allisen Corpuz takes on Nanna Koerstz Madsen and Andrea Lee plays rookie Nastasia Nadaud.
Noh, who has impressed this week, is favourite against debutant Julia Lopez Ramirez. Auston Kim faces Woad, Coughlin plays Ireland's Leona Maguire, and Lindy Duncan takes on Swedish star Maja Stark.
Carlota Ciganda goes out in the penultimate match, as she did during a dramatic 14-14 tie on home soil in 2023, against Jennifer Kupcho, Team USA's hero from Saturday's fourballs after she holed two decisive putts on the 17th and 18th to pull her side level. Rose Zhang meets Celine Boutier in the final match of the day.
What is at stake
Team USA need six points on the final day to retain the title they won two years ago on home soil in Virginia. Team Europe need a further 6.5 points in the singles to secure a first outright victory since 2021.
Weather threat
Heavy rain is expected to be a significant factor during most of Sunday's singles. The latest forecast, issued by the on-site meteorologist on Saturday afternoon, predicted rounds of moderate to heavy rain through the morning, with further waves of moderate to heavy rain forecast to move across the area later on.
Rain probability ranges from 70 to 90 per cent from early morning until mid-afternoon, with around an inch of rain possible between Saturday and Sunday evening.
The final tee-time singles match begins at 1.22pm local time (12.22pm BST), with play scheduled to finish around 5.30pm local time and the closing ceremony due around 6.15pm.
