Women's National Basketball Association star Sophie Cunningham has officially rebranded her podcast under the title No Hesitation alongside new co-host Drew Hanlen.
The announcement on Thursday confirmed that Cunningham and former co-host West Wilson have gone their separate ways following a period of silence on their previous show, Show Me Something, which had not released an episode since July 21.
The new podcast will focus heavily on professional basketball coverage across both major American leagues, featuring commentary from Cunningham and Hanlen.
In a statement announcing the launch, Cunningham expressed her excitement about collaborating with Hanlen on the new project under a new media partnership.
Cunningham said: "Drew and I love this sport, we could talk basketball all day. Now we will! We'll dive into everything around the WNBA and NBA and can't wait to share our thoughts. The Volume has been an awesome partner in making that happen."
According to reporting from Front Office Sports, changes to the original podcast had been in development for months as the hosts' initial one-year contract approached its expiration date.
Split follows trans athlete debate
Despite the expiring agreement, many listeners believed the split stemmed from differing viewpoints regarding the debate over transgender athletes participating in women's sports.
The controversy began after Cunningham voiced her perspective during an interview with sports network ESPN, where she called for measures to protect female competitors.
Cunningham said: "I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
During the same ESPN interview, the Indiana Fever player also addressed speculation regarding her personal political affiliations.
Cunningham said: "I'm very much in the middle. I agree with things on both sides, disagree with things on both sides. And that's all I've ever said about my political beliefs."
Her comments generated significant national attention, drawing both vocal support and intense public scrutiny. The remarks also led to demonstrations outside Indiana Fever games in the following weeks, where protestors from opposing sides gathered to voice their opinions.
Former co-host addresses controversy
In the weeks following Cunningham's media appearance, her former podcast partner West Wilson publicly distanced himself from her positions in a video posted to his TikTok account in July.
In the clip, Wilson described the inclusion of transgender women in sports as a borderline nonexistent issue that was being amplified for political reasons.
Wilson said: "Transgender athletes in American sports is such a borderline nonexistent issue that right-wingers have convinced a massive portion of people in our country that these people are a threat to sports in America when mathematically, that's not the case at all."
Wilson went on to argue that the political rhetoric surrounding the subject serves primarily to divide the public while marginalizing transgender individuals.
Wilson said: "There is, like, 10 transgender athletes in all of the NCAA. I think there are unique questions that can be handled on individual bases, but to allow this to take our attention from housing, healthcare, wars, all the other actual harmful s*** in our country is dumb."
