The Super League, Greece's top football division, has announced the fixture schedule for the third and fourth rounds of the Stoiximan Super League season. The headline match of round three sees AEK Athens host Aris on Saturday, September 5, while Panathinaikos take on PAOK at the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens, known as OAKA, on Sunday, September 6.
Round three opens on Saturday with Volos hosting Olympiacos at 19:00, followed by the AEK Athens against Aris kickoff at 21:00.
Matchday 3 fixtures
The Sunday programme features four matches. Atromitos host Kalamata at 19:00, OFI take on Kifisia at 19:30, and Levadiakos face Panetolikos at 20:00. The round's marquee fixture, Panathinaikos against PAOK, kicks off at OAKA at 21:30.
The third round closes on Monday, September 7, with Asteras AKTOR hosting Iraklis at 18:00.
Matchday 4 fixtures
Round four begins on Saturday, September 12, with Olympiacos hosting OFI at 19:00 and Iraklis facing Atromitos at 21:00.
Sunday, September 13, carries five matches. Kalamata host Volos at 18:00, Asteras AKTOR face AEK Athens at 19:00, and Kifisia meet Levadiakos at 21:00. At the same time, PAOK host Aris, before Panathinaikos close the round against Panetolikos at 21:30.
Greece's traditional powers
Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, PAOK, AEK Athens and Aris are widely regarded as the five most successful and historically dominant clubs in Greek football, between them accounting for the vast majority of Greek league titles. Olympiacos, based in Piraeus, and Panathinaikos and AEK Athens, both based in Athens, have long been fierce rivals, while PAOK represents Thessaloniki and Aris also hails from the northern city. OAKA, the venue for the Panathinaikos-PAOK fixture, was built for the 2004 Athens Olympics and has since served as a major venue for Greek football and athletics.
The Super League is the top tier of the Greek football league system, sitting above the Super League 2.
