Team USA pulled level with Team Europe at 8-8 in the Solheim Cup after Jennifer Kupcho produced two late birdies to beat Carlota Ciganda and Celine Boutier in Saturday's fourballs at Bernardus Golf, setting up a tied finish heading into the Sunday singles.
Kupcho and her playing partner Lindy Duncan trailed in the bottom match of the session until Kupcho holed a 90-foot birdie putt at the par-four 17th to draw level. She then rolled in another birdie from more than 20 feet at the last to win the hole and the match 1up, sparking wild celebrations on the final green.
The win meant the United States took the fourballs session 3-1, leaving the two teams tied after two days for the third consecutive Solheim Cup staged on European soil.
"That was huge," Team USA captain Angela Stanford said. "That absolutely turned our tide. She just doesn't give up and she's a fighter. Now her team has seen that in person."
Stark and Grant remain unbeaten
Maja Stark and Linn Grant continued their perfect week together, beating Megan Khang and Lauren Coughlin 2&1 for their third win in as many sessions as a pairing. Stark holed out from the fairway at the first for her second eagle of the day, before Coughlin hit back with successive holes from the third to put Europe behind for the first time all week.
The two teams shared holes until Grant won the 11th and 12th with birdies. Stark then rolled in from 20 feet to win the 13th and move two ahead, before cancelling out Coughlin's win at the 16th with a long-range birdie at the next to complete the win.
Khang's defeat was her first in 10 Solheim Cup matches, ending a six-match winning streak one shy of the record. Coughlin's loss was the first of her Solheim Cup career.
"I think we really turned it on during the back nine," Grant said. "We really got our things together and started playing like we wanted to. It was a really good game - I think they were just right behind us."
Hull and Woad's winless run continues
Charley Hull and Lottie Woad fell to a final-hole defeat to Yealimi Noh and Andrea Lee. The pair are the first in Solheim Cup history to play all four sessions together, but have returned just 0.5 points from the week and never led during Saturday's match.
Noh fired an eagle and four birdies over the front nine to reach the turn two ahead. Europe won the opening hole of the back nine but lost the 13th to a Lee birdie. Woad matched Lee's birdie at the 15th and found another at the 17th, but the Americans closed out the point with a final-hole par.
Zhang and Kim reduce the deficit
Rose Zhang and Auston Kim beat Leona Maguire and Nastasia Nadaud 3&2. Nadaud had won two sessions alongside Mimi Rhodes earlier in the week but was paired with Maguire for this match. Maguire chipped in for eagle at the eighth and birdied the ninth, before the Americans reeled off a three-hole burst on their way to victory.
How the sides got here
Anna Nordqvist's Team Europe side tied both sessions on Friday before winning three of the four points on offer in Saturday's morning foursomes, giving them the advantage heading into the afternoon. Team USA hit back to edge the fourballs and level the match at 8-8 overall.
The Solheim Cup is contested every two years between teams of professional women golfers representing the United States and Europe, with matches played over foursomes, fourballs and singles formats. This year's edition is being held at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.
What's at stake on the final day
The tie leaves Team USA needing six points on Sunday to retain the title, two years after their home win in Virginia. Team Europe would need a further 6.5 points for a first outright victory since 2021.
Play begins at 11.10am local time (1010 BST) on Sunday, with heavy rain expected during most of the final day's singles. The last three Solheim Cups that were tied heading into the final day have resulted in European wins on home soil.
