Former Russian Fifth World Racket Anna Chakvetadze who ended her performances on the WTA Tour 11 years ago, became one of the participants in the Belgian Duffel ITF tournament in doubles, according to website International Tennis Federation (ITF).
The 36-year-old Russian will play in tandem with Luxembourg’s Laura Palumbo. In the 1/8 finals, the duo will face Russian tennis player Polina Bakhmutkina and Belgian Chelsea Vanhutt. The two representatives of Russia will play under a neutral flag.
The clay court tournament runs from August 14-20, the prize will be $15,000.
Chakvetadze has won eight WTA singles titles in his career. She last participated in the WTA Tour in 2012. Previously, Chakvetadze was on the reserve list of three ITF tournaments in Belgium in singles at once – in Koksijde, Duffel and Wanfers Bol.
