Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev After reaching the 2024 Australian Open final, he said he tries to be less emotional during matches.
On Friday, Medvedev won a strong-willed victory against Alexander Zverev representing Germany with a score of 5:7, 3:6, 7:6 (7:4), 7:6 (7:5), 6:3. semi-finals of the tournament.
– As I already said before the tournament, I want change, I want to become… I don’t want to say “a better person”, because I don’t like that kind of label. Who knows which person is better.
I just want to be at peace with myself. So that after the matches there are no moments when I think: why did I communicate with the fans like that, was it good or bad, why did I do it, is this helped me in the field or not. I don’t want to be distracted by this anymore. I want to play tennis, be proud of myself, I want to fight and all that.
Does this help you win all these matches? Maybe yes. But life is not that simple. I’m just doing what I promised myself a month ago and I’m happy with it. I look forward to what comes next,” Medvedev said at a press conference.
Medvedev will compete for the champion title with Italian Jannik Sinner, who had already beaten world number one, Serbian Novak Djokovic. The Australian Open final will take place on Sunday.
