President Donald Trump spent Sunday at his Bedminster golf course in New Jersey as LIV Golf played the final round of its New York event, held toward the end of the rebel tour's season.
On Saturday, Trump was seen driving around the course on a golf cart, followed by security and his daughter, Ivanka. On Sunday, legendary golfer Gary Player joined him on the cart to watch the action.
Trump also got out of his cart and walked onto one of the tee boxes, waving to fans and supporters. It was the second straight day the president had attended the struggling golf circuit's event.
Arrival through a thunderstorm
Trump arrived in the area on Friday evening, with Air Force One touching down just before 6:00pm ET. His motorcade then took him to the course through a thunderstorm that swept across the Northeastern United States.
Trump's ties to LIV Golf
Trump has long supported LIV Golf, which was formerly backed by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. Earlier this year, the fund announced it would stop financially supporting LIV Golf after the current season ends. Earlier this week, LIV said it had secured funding for the 2027 season but gave few further details.
LIV Golf has repeatedly played at courses owned by Trump's holding company. Earlier this year, the tour held an event at Trump National Golf Club in Washington, DC, and it has also hosted a Miami event at the Blue Monster course at Trump National Doral.
Push to reunite golf's tours
Trump has previously tried to broker a peaceful end to the split between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour. "I do believe that all of the golfers should be playing against each other. They were viewing something as a monopoly, but it's swaying away. It should be the opposite of a monopoly," Trump told reporters in April.
"I want to see Rory McIlroy playing Bryson DeChambeau. I want to see big Jon Rahm playing Scottie, who is so great. Scottie Scheffler is great," he said. "They have great players on LIV, but it's almost like people want to see that. That's why the Masters was so good, because you saw everybody together."
