Widzew Łódź has placed 27-year-old striker Andi Zeqiri on its transfer list after starting the season with two consecutive draws. The 18-time Switzerland international is among several players the four-time Polish champion wants to move on following a slow start under manager Aleksandar Vuković.
The club spent heavily on transfers before and during the previous season, but barely avoided relegation. Vuković's team opened the current PKO BP Ekstraklasa campaign with a 2-2 draw against Motor Lublin and a 0-0 draw against Wisła Płock, leaving them with two points.
Squad changes and potential signings
According to news portal Weszło, Widzew also wants to part ways with Samuel Akere, Lindon Selahi, and Pape Meissa Ba. Defender Stelios Andreou is close to joining Portuguese side Estoril on loan. The club previously saw Osman Bukari join Crvena Zvezda Belgrade, Maciej Kikolski move to GKS Katowice, Peter Therkildsen transfer to Odense BK, Samuel Kozlovsky go to Slovan Bratislava, and Tonio Teklić head to Mardin 1969 Spor.
Weszło also reported that Widzew plans to sign a striker under 21 years old through either a loan or a permanent transfer. The club is willing to spend 600,000 euros on the transaction, with an additional 600,000 euros set aside for a one-year contract offering 50,000 euros per month.
Widzew next plays an away match against Jagiellonia Białystok in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa on Sunday, August 9, at 20:15.
