Wyndham Clark's girlfriend Emily Tanner has revealed how she first met the golf star before their whirlwind romance began. During a Q&A session on her Instagram story on Wednesday, Tanner was asked how she met the PGA Tour player.
"Online/mutual friends," she replied. "We met end of January and fell pretty fast. We're super similar and get along so so well."
Tanner, who has 741,000 followers and runs her own marketing firm, teased that more details were coming. "I'll tell the full story soon," she wrote over a video of herself and Clark at a golf event.
Sock tan lines and support on tour
Asked what the best thing about being Clark's girlfriend was, Tanner joked about an unexpected downside of following him around the course. "One thing I didn't know is that I too would get sock tan lines," she wrote, posting a photo of her bare pale feet. "But on a real note, it's just the best feeling to be there for him, cheering him on doing what he loves," she continued.
Clark and Tanner went public with their relationship at The Masters in April during the par-3 contest, shortly before he recorded a career-best finish of 21st at Augusta. He later called her "my good luck charm" when he posted pictures of the pair from the tournament.
Second US Open title amid ugly scenes
Clark won his second US Open championship last month at Shinnecock Hills, a final round marked by police ejecting multiple fans for shouting abuse at him. Tanner was waiting for him at the edge of the 18th green, embracing him in celebration after his win. In May, Clark also won the CJ Cup Byron Nelson with a final round of 60.
Clark's Baker Mayfield cheating claim
Fresh off his US Open win, Clark claimed on Barstool's "Pardon My Take" podcast that a former girlfriend cheated on him with NFL quarterback Baker Mayfield. When hosts pulled up an old 2016 tweet reading "I hate baker mayfield," Clark said: "I'm trying to decide if I should tell the story... alright screw it I don't care. People already hate me."
He alleged his girlfriend at the time was unfaithful with Mayfield, who was playing college football at the University of Oklahoma in 2016. Clark was at Oklahoma State University before transferring to the University of Oregon that summer.
"My girlfriend at the time cheated on me with Baker Mayfield," he claimed. "But here's what I would say: I'm actually a Baker fan now, I think he's a homie. That's your initial response, 'Screw that guy.' But really it's screw the [girlfriend]."
Clark said he hopes to make peace with Mayfield, now the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, on the golf course. "I hope this is a bro moment for us to be like 'Oh, bro, I didn't know. My bad. She never told me,' and I'll tell him, 'It's all good, we're homies, let's play golf.' That's where I hope it comes from."
Clark's most significant ex-girlfriend, Alicia Bogdanski, is not the alleged cheater, since the pair began dating in 2021 before splitting four years later. The former partner accused of the affair is believed to be an unnamed girlfriend from his college days.
