Kelly Marcucci, a 38-year-old man from Long Island, has been identified as the fan who ran onto the field at Yankee Stadium waving a Palestinian flag during Friday's Subway Series game between the New York Yankees and the New York Mets, played on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
The New York Police Department said Saturday that Marcucci had been booked on misdemeanor charges of interference with a professional sporting event and trespassing. He was arrested during the Yankees' 6-4 win over their crosstown rivals.
Marcucci wore a baseball jersey reading "No Kings" as he sprinted onto the field carrying the flag in the seventh inning. He was tackled by stadium security as fans throughout the ballpark broke into chants of "USA! USA!"
"No Kings" is a slogan that has been adopted by many critics of President Donald Trump.
Deactivated OnlyFans account
The Daily Mail verified a deactivated OnlyFans account that appears to belong to Marcucci. Its profile picture shows him shirtless, though the image appears to be mirrored. An identifiable tattoo on his bicep in the photo matches the tattoo visible on his left arm at the stadium on Friday night.
The account's bio began: "Minding my own business is one of my favorite things to do. Im Passionate about social equality. Injustice anywhere is Injustice everywhere."
It continued: "Politically, I identify as a revisionist-Marxist, and the core values of this expression are very important to me." The bio went on to list interests including skydiving, traveling through Europe alone, yoga, Pilates, spin classes and education.
Marcucci claimed on the page to hold a communications degree and said he was pursuing a journalism degree at Stony Brook. He said he had created the OnlyFans account "as a joke" to see "how cultural normatives have passed judgement on those who have chose (sic) to make an 'OnlyFans.' And that bothered me." Marcucci did not immediately respond to the Daily Mail's request for comment.
A 9/11 anniversary game disrupted
The protest interrupted a game built around a solemn commemoration. The Yankees and Mets met on a night marking a quarter-century since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center's Twin Towers, which killed almost 3,000 people.
Facebook rant before the game
Before the game, Marcucci posted a rant on his Facebook page criticizing figures including Trump and podcaster Joe Rogan. He also wrote about what he described as the evils of capitalism and about Saudi Arabia's alleged role in the September 11 attacks.
Pregame tribute to the victims
Before the first pitch, members of the Yankees' 2001 team took part in a pregame tribute to the victims of the attacks. Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Paul O'Neill, Tino Martinez, Scott Brosius and Mariano Rivera walked onto the field in their former pinstripe jerseys alongside their former manager, Joe Torre.
The former players were joined by honor guards from the New York Police Department, the New York City Fire Department and the Port Authority Police Department, who carried out a presentation of colors as a giant American flag was unfurled across the outfield.
Earlier that afternoon, Jeter had joined current Yankees captain Aaron Judge and pitcher Gerrit Cole in laying a commemorative wreath beside the 9/11 monument in Monument Park at the stadium.
