Alan Shearer was seen dancing on a table and singing karaoke during The Rest Is Football's post-World Cup party, as the show celebrated a contract extension with Netflix.
Spain secured a second star on their crest on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 win over defending champions Argentina at MetLife Stadium.
Shearer and Micah Richards worked the final for the BBC, with Shearer in the commentary booth and Richards on punditry duty alongside Wayne Rooney and Joe Hart inside the ground.
Soon after the coverage ended, the pair joined Gary Lineker in the Rest Is Football studio in New York to record their final episode of the tournament, before enjoying an after-party.
Richards, 38, posted videos on his Instagram story showing Shearer with a microphone in hand, enjoying some karaoke.
The former England captain was captured singing Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up," before he could later be seen finishing off "Mr. Brightside" by the Killers while dancing on a table.
Netflix deal extended for new season
The Rest Is Football recorded daily shows throughout the World Cup as part of a Netflix deal worth a reported £14million, with Richards and Shearer balancing the podcast with their BBC duties.
In the final show, broadcast this morning, Lineker confirmed the podcast will continue on the streaming service for the 2026/27 season, starting in August. "I've got some very exciting news," Lineker said. "From the start of the Premier League season, which kicks off in just 32 days, we're back on Netflix, baby!"
Episodes will be released weekly. During the World Cup, the show hosted guests including Harry Maguire, Patrick Vieira, Maya Jama and Michael McIntyre, while New York mayor Zohran Mamdani was interviewed by Lineker.
Lineker's surprise ITV appearance
Lineker also appeared on ITV's coverage of Germany versus Ivory Coast during the group stage, in a move that surprised football fans. He humorously introduced the show before host Laura Woods interjected to remind him of his role. "Thank you very much for joining us on ITV for this one, another day, another game, another channel," Lineker said, before jokingly apologising for slipping into "old habits."
Lineker mocked the BBC, confirming ITV's studio overlooking the Manhattan skyline was real, while his former employers remained at Salford's MediaCity until the knockout stages. "I've been doing a show daily for Netflix; we're at Times Square," he said. "But I desperately wanted to come and see your set because I think it's absolutely amazing and I can confirm that it is real."
Lineker stayed on the coverage for 20 minutes and jokingly asked whether he had failed the audition before leaving. "If you passed it, you would get my job, so you've failed," Woods quipped. "I've got no chance of that, Laura," Lineker replied. "May I say what a fabulous job you do, you are very good at this."
Lineker joined Duncan Ferguson, Gary Neville and Ian Wright as a "special guest" on ITV's temporarily enlarged panel.
Richards calls Lineker a 'traitor'
Richards later jokingly labelled Lineker an "absolute traitor" on The Rest Is Football, adding, "26 years of blood, sweat, and tears for the BBC, and then you go over to the rivals!" The comment prompted Lineker to jokingly tell Richards to "shut the f*** up."
