The 31-year-old athlete was arrested in February while trying to illegally import hash oil through Sheremetyevo airport. On August 4, the athlete was sentenced by the Khimki city court to 9 years in a penal colony for drug trafficking.
– It’s like I’m in a movie. I never would have thought that our president and the president of a foreign country would discuss my wife’s freedom. Although everyone tells me different things about Brittney, I feel like she’s a hostage. This horrifies me. When watching movies, you can sometimes see that such situations end badly – a person does not return, – said Scherelle Griner, as quoted by TMZ.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said he continues to “work tirelessly” and do everything possible to bring the athlete back.
