Prometheus played a nominally home match of the Eurocup in Riga
Prometheus Head Coach Ronen Ginzburg commented on the team’s victory in the opening match Eurocup above Litkabelis.
“We were under the pressure of responsibility, as the team played in the Eurocup for the first time. Now we certainly feel better. I am satisfied. Not by the game itself, but by the attitude of the players towards it.”
“I told my basketball players that you can’t play without emotions if so many from Ukraine came here on this long trip with all the risks. It’s incredible to see them here. Therefore, we are obliged to give 100% on the site. Though lose, but definitely surrender to the game 100%. Even one person who came from Ukraine is a great support for us. We felt their support throughout the game. It’s amazing how they arrived and we felt them. I can say that they really wanted us to succeed and win the match. It’s incredible.”
“We played against a really good team with a good coach, it’s a really ‘coaching’ team. We knew we had to control the pace of the game. But this is basketball. You can’t always play at the same level, there are recessions, failures. Of course, everyone was nervous when we let the opponent into the account in the third quarter. However, it is part of the game.”
Prometheus started confidently in the group stage of the Eurocup, defeating Litkabelis from Lithuania in the first round – 82:71.
In the next match, Prometheus will play away with Brescia on October 19. The top 8 teams from the two subgroups will advance to the Eurocup playoffs.
