The Latvian specialist commented on the continuation of the contract with the Basketball Federation of Ukraine.
Ainars Bagatskis will continue to coach the Ukrainian national basketball team. On the eve it became known that the specialist accepted the FBU’s offer to extend the contract.
In an interview with the press service of the federation, the Latvian coach said how important this position is for him.
“I agreed to continue working with the Ukrainian national team, although my contract ended after the European Championship. This offer is an honor for me, and helping Ukrainian basketball is my direct responsibility.
As long as there are theoretical opportunities, we must continue to fight for the World Cup. There are some ideas about the upcoming matches, because in the next meetings we will again have a slightly different team and other players. I want us to always have the opinion that we should use every opportunity.
It is important to continue to work on training the players, the team with the mentality of winners. Every game should be like the last for us. We must play our basketball, think our game and tune in just to win. After qualification, we’ll evaluate and see what works and what doesn’t work for us,” Bagatskis said.
It will be remembered that the national basketball team of Ukraine on November 11 will play another qualifying match for the world championship. Our away team will face the Netherlands, and on November 14th they will face Iceland.
