The Moscow Regional Court approved the American basketball player Britney Griner 9 years in prison in a colony for drug trafficking, reports RIA Novosti Sport.
The 31-year-old athlete was arrested in February while trying to illegally import hash oil through Sheremetyevo airport. On August 4, the athlete was sentenced by the Khimki city court to 9 years in a penal colony for drug trafficking.
“The verdict was changed in terms of length of stay in a remand center in a day and a half, otherwise the verdict remained unchanged,” Judge Elena Vorontsova announced.
Greiner took part in the meeting by videoconference from the Novoe Grishino remand center, located on the territory of a settlement near Moscow, where she has been since March.
