Former Celtics coach Udoka could be new Nets coach
Brooklyn Nets announced the termination of cooperation with the head coach of the team Steve Nash. The decision was made by mutual agreement.
According to information ESPN, the main contender for the post of coach of Brooklyn is Ime Udoka. Last season, he led the Boston Celtics to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Golden State Warriors. In September, Udoka was suspended for a year for violating the organization’s code.
Nash took over Brooklyn in September 2020. Under Steve’s leadership, the team reached the playoffs twice, but won only one series. Brooklyn became the first team in Steve’s coaching career.
The Canadian is one of the best point guards in NBA history. During his playing career, Nash played for the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers. Steve was a regular season MVP in 2005 and 2006, went to the All-Star Game eight times, was named to the NBA All-Star Team seven times and entered the top 3 in league history in assists.
Brooklyn got off to a poor start to the new NBA season with only two wins in seven games. The Nets are 13th in the NBA Eastern Conference.
