Suspended by “Brooklyn”, basketball player Irving apologized for anti-Semitic messages on the social network

game leader “brooklyn » Kyrie Irving on a social network made a statement regarding his anti-Semitic posts.

On Friday, the Nets’ press office said that for refusing to acknowledge the anti-Semitic overtones of their posts and for failing to apologize, Irving was suspended for five NBA regular season games without pay.

The basketball player posted a message on the social network last week regarding the film “From Jews to Blacks: Wake up Black America”. In a press conference, the player declared that he would not “fall back” on what he believes in, while refusing to answer if he has anti-Semitic convictions.

“I apologize to all Jewish families and communities affected by my fast. I’m sorry to have caused you pain. At first, I reacted emotionally to being unfairly labeled an anti-Semite, instead of focusing on the process of healing my Jewish brothers and sisters who suffered from the hate speech in the documentary.

It was not my intention to disrespect any Jewish cultural history regarding the Holocaust or to perpetuate hatred. I learn from this unfortunate event and hope that we can find mutual understanding between all of us. I am no different from other people,” Irving wrote.

Irving, 30, has played eight games this season in the NBA, averaging 26.9 points, 5.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds.
