“Over the past few days, we have made repeated attempts to work with Kyrie Irving to help him understand the harm and danger of his words and actions, which began when he publicized a film that contained deeply disturbing anti-Semitic hate . We believe that taking the path of education in this difficult situation will be the right one and we feel that we have made progress in our joint commitment to eradicate hatred and intolerance.
We were disappointed today, when given the opportunity in a media session, that Kyrie refused to state unequivocally that he has no anti-Semitic beliefs, or to acknowledge any specific hateful material in the film. This is not the first time he has had the opportunity, but failed, to clarify.”said a statement published by the Brooklyn Nets through their site.
What ended up triggering the punishment was the refusal to clearly apologize. Irving’s continued evasion, and his recent past, have gotten the better of the situation and the franchise has certainly acted on it: “We have determined that Kyrie will serve an unpaid suspension until he completes a series of objective and remedial measures that address the harmful effects of his conduct and that the suspension period will be at least five games.”

Kyrie Irving’s apology has finally arrived
Kyrie Irving He used, again, his social networks to make the apology strongly demanded and published, albeit out of time, a letter.
“While researching YHWH, I released a documentary that contained several false statements, narratives, and anti-Semitic language that were false and offensive to the Jewish race/religion, and I take full responsibility for my actions. I am grateful to have a great platform to share knowledge.” and I want to move forward by keeping an open dialogue to learn more and grow from it.
To all the Jewish families and communities who were hurt and affected by my post, I am deeply sorry for the pain you have caused and I apologize. I initially reacted out of feelings of being unfairly labeled anti-Semitic, instead of focusing on the healing process of my Jewish brothers and sisters who were hurt by the hateful comments made in the documentary. I would like to clear up any confusion about my position on anti-Semitism by apologizing for posting the documentary without context and a factual explanation outlining the specific beliefs in the documentary that I agree with and disagree with – agree. I have no intention of ignoring any Jewish cultural history regarding the Holocaust or perpetuating any hatred. I am learning from this unfortunate incident and hope we can all find understanding. I am no different from other people. I seek truth and knowledge, and I know who I am.”
