The chances of the national basketball team to successfully complete the qualification are diminishing.
The Ukrainian national basketball team has lost several key players before the final qualifying match for the 2023 World Cup.
According to the official FBU website, yesterday, November 7, the Ainars Bagatskis team started the preparation camp for the upcoming matches. Unfortunately, it immediately became clear that some players could not help the Blue-Yellows and dropped out of the application due to injuries.
For this reason, defenders Issuf Sanon (Prometheus) and Alexander Kovlyar (Kalev) left the team. Both basketball players were diagnosed with ankle injuries. And because of groin problems, Vitaly Zotov, point guard of the Latvian VEF, will not be able to help the national team.
In this regard, the coaching staff, led by Ainars Bagatskis, called Kyiv Budivelnyk defender Ilya Tyrtyshnik to the national team. The player is very familiar with the coach, because under his leadership last season he played for Kyiv-Basket.
So, there are now 12 basketball players in the Ukrainian national team application.
It will be remembered that as part of the selection for the 2023 World Cup, Ukraine will play against the Netherlands on November 11, and against Iceland on November 14.
It was previously known that the national team in the upcoming matches will not play in the optimal composition.
