The VTB United League management is discussing the possibility of inviting foreign clubs to participate in the tournament, the league president has told Sport24. Sergei Kushchenko.
– Having lived until the New Year, we can say that the quality of basketball is maintained. We try to maintain the international agenda. We have proposals from some foreign clubs, but they are in the process of being communicated.
Communication segment – friendly matches in our country and on the territory of friendly countries, as well as consideration and invitation of certain clubs to our competitions. This is also under discussion. Which country? We are in good communication with the Serbian clubs, communicated with the Turkish teams. But the Turkish league starts playing early, even friendly matches with them are difficult to plan. Nevertheless, we are reviewing and working on these issues so that they are on the table,” Kushchenko said.
Currently, “Astana” from Kazakhstan and “Minsk” from Belarus play in the United League.
