The Russian team will not perform at EuroBasket 2022

FIBA Europe suspended Russian and Belarusian teams and clubs from international tournaments under the auspices of the organization for the 2022/23 season.

In particular, the Russian team will not perform at the upcoming EuroBasket 2022. The Russian team in group A will be replaced by Montenegro, as the best team from those who did not qualify.

The men’s and women’s national teams of Russia and Belarus have been suspended from the Youth and Youth European Championships 2022 (U-20, U-18 and U-16).

In addition, Russian and Belarusian clubs will not be able to participate in the FIBA ​​Men’s European Cup, Women’s Euroleague and Women’s Eurocup next season. Also, FIBA ​​Europe banned its competitions in Russia and Belarus.

Recently, the Executive Committee of the International Basketball Federation suspended Russia and Belarus from international tournaments in connection with the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, which continues for the 86th day.
