Two-time Olympic gold medalist Maya Moore has announced her retirement from professional basketball.

— I think it’s time to put an end to professional basketball. I left four years ago, but wanted to officially end my career. It’s such a good time for us and our family. The work we have done. I want to continue this in the next chapter of life, – quotes the words of 33-year-old Moore ESPN.

In 2019, the athlete put his career on hold to help Jonathan Irons get out of prison, sentenced to 50 years in 1998 for assault and burglary. In March 2020, Irons’ sentence was overturned; after his release, the couple married and had a baby.

Moore is a four-time WNBA champion with the Minnesota Lynx and a six-time NBA All-Star. In Russia, she played for Yekaterinburg UMMC . As a member of Team USA, Moore became a two-time Olympic champion and twice won the world championship.
