Our basketball players will play in February against Finland and Lithuania
Head coach of the Ukrainian women’s basketball team Srdjan Radulovic talked about preparing for two final qualifying matches for EuroBasket 2023 – against Finland and Lithuania.
“We will have a few days to prepare for the matches. We will gather on the 5th in Riga, and already on the 9th we are playing the first match of the playing window. There is not much time, but we will try to prepare as well as possible for the fights, which will be decisive for us in qualifying.”
“Everyone is ready to fight and we will think only about victories. Considering the situation and the current conditions that we need to adapt to, we have assembled a squad of 12 basketball players. These are 12 high-quality players who will give their strength for the Ukrainian national team. I am very pleased with the roster, we have a strong squad. But only the results of the matches will show how right I was.”
“We have scouting ahead of us, we will try to work as efficiently as possible and get rid of the mistakes that we made in November. We need to prepare as best we can, both tactically and physically. We will give the girls as much information as possible and draw conclusions from our mistakes.”
“Unfortunately, due to the war last summer, we were unable to hold the planned camp. This, of course, affects the result and the quality of the game. Usually the way you train is the way you play. The situation is not easy, but we cannot complain and we will do our best to give our best and win these matches while playing for Ukraine.”
Earlier, the women’s national team of Ukraine announced the composition for the final matches of the EuroBasket 2023 qualification against Finland and Lithuania.
Radulovic’s team will face Finland on February 9, and will play against Lithuania on February 12. Both matches, which are considered home, our team will play in Riga.
Ukraine is in the qualifiers on the third line of the quartet B. Recall that the winners of the groups, as well as the four best teams among the runners-up, will qualify for the European Championship.
