The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has taken note of the position International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus to world starts. This was reported in the FIBA statement.
The IOC announced on January 25 that it would consider the possibility of admitting to international competitions Russian and Belarusian athletes in a neutral status, who have not actively supported the CBO. On February 2, the committee noted that this matter had not yet been discussed and that the organization still did not have criteria according to which individual admission to competitions could be made.
— FIBA has taken note of recent statements by the IOC and the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF). We will continue to participate in the consultation process, taking into account the specifics applicable to basketball as a team sport, FIBA said in a statement.
The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
