The country’s basketball federation turned to FIBA is to increase pressure on the International Olympic Committee.

In the Czech Republic, they proposed to increase the pressure on the International Olympic Committee with a request not to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to return to competitions.

With such an appeal, the Czech Basketball Federation turned to FIBA. An open letter addressed to FIBA President Hamane Nyangu states that the situation in Ukraine has not changed in the past year, and therefore international organizations must continue to put pressure on the terrorist country .

“A year ago, the opinions of the majority of representatives of the sports environment were undoubtedly negative and decisive, but today there are various conciliatory statements by international sports bodies and the International Olympic Committee , which allows the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions under certain conditions.

The leadership of the Czech Basketball Federation denies collective guilt, but continues to adhere to its position and rejects the possibility of the return of Russian athletes under a neutral flag. National and international sports authorities, and especially the IOC, must not give up on efforts to achieve peace. It is necessary to put pressure on Russia, including banning athletes from participating in international competitions,” the letter said.

Recall that earlier the IOC began to threaten Ukrainian athletes with sanctions for the boycott of the Olympic Games-2024.
