Nets athlete fined for speaking against LGBTQIA+ public

After speaking in an interview, Cam Thomas, one of the recent highlights of the Brooklyn Nets, was fined $40,000 for derogatory speech towards the LGBTQIA+ population

The owner of brooklyn nets, Cam Thomas, was fined $40,000. The amount, at the current exchange rate, exceeds R$ 200,000. The penalty took place at the expense of a derogatory speech in relation to the LGBTQIA+ population, shortly after the victory against the Chicago Bullslast Thursday, 9.

After the Nets’ victory, Thomas was interviewed alongside Spencer Dinwiddie, teammate. A few days before the match, the player had already played after changing Kyrie Irving as dallas mavericks. In his speech, the athlete said that the Brooklyn franchise was not able to keep the most talented athletes, but at least it got the “most beautiful”.

“And the Nets needed help in that department”, joked Dinwiddie. Still in a good mood, Cam Thomas was asked about the relaxation with the new companion, by the North American broadcaster “TNT”, but ended up exceeding himself in the answer. “We already had handsome guys, not homosexuals”, said the shipowner.

Obviously, the player’s speech was considered derogatory to the LGBTQIA+ population. In this way, basketball supporters and fans pressured the NBA for an answer, since they didn’t agree with Thomas’s attitude. Therefore, the league decided to penalize the armed with a fine of 40 thousand dollars.

Time later, Cam Thomas went to his social networks to recant about the unfortunate speech. “I want to apologize for the insensitive word I used in the post-match interview. I was excited about the win and was being playful. I definitely didn’t mean to offend anyone, but I figured I probably did. My apologies again. Much love”published the Nets athlete.
