Secretary General of the Russian Basketball Federation Natalya Vodopyanova spoke about the difficult negotiations with her Serbian colleagues on the organization of friendly matches between Russian team and local clubs.
The Russian national team will play two matches in Serbia: with Mega (February 21) and FMP (February 23). On Wednesday, the national team started training camp in Novogorsk, which will end on February 20. On Friday, the Russian team holds an open training session in Novogorsk.

“They have a head coach that we trust a lot.

“I don’t want to point fingers at anyone. All the guys practice a lot. Of course, we are very happy that we were able to agree and organize two friendly matches with Serbia in order to watch our youth.
— How did the negotiations with Serbia go?
— I tried to talk to different countries. We spent a lot of energy in the negotiations with Serbia, but we are very happy that everything worked out in the end.
Have you had conversations with other countries?
— Yes, but we have few friendly countries now. It is very difficult now to agree with someone, but we are looking for ways for our athletes to play. Serbia have good basketball, it’s a very good option for us.
