Former Lakers player Westbrook plans to sign with Clippers

Nine-time All-Star has decided on his future

Famous American point guard Russell Westbrook plans to sign a contract with Los Angeles Clippers.

In February, Westbrook traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to Utah. The quarterback and the Jazz are now finalizing a $47 million buyout Russell was supposed to receive under the expiring deal.

Westbrook, 34, believes he can fight for an NBA championship with the Clippers. Also, his decision was influenced by the opportunity to stay in Los Angeles. Russell has previously negotiated with the Chicago Bulls, the Washington Wizards and the Miami Heat.

Westbrook is a nine-time All-Star, 2017 regular season MVP, and two-time league leading scorer. The point guard played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Lakers.

Westbrook has made 52 appearances for the Lakers this season. Russell averaged 15.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game.

The Clippers (33-28) are fourth in the NBA Western Conference. LAC will play Sacramento on February 25th.
