It is important to note that the United States did not play the World Cup with its NBA athletes. Other players who do not play for the main basketball league in the world were responsible for leading the team in the qualifiers. In fact, the United States was one of the first nations to guarantee its place in the main competition of this Olympic cycle, which gives a place for the Paris Olympics.
Brazil got its place for the next edition of the world in a sweaty way. Even tied with the same campaign of Mexico and Costa Rica, the Brazilian team ended up getting complicated in the qualifiers due to the tiebreaker criteria. It consists of the direct confrontation between the teams, and the green and yellow team got the worst against Mexicans and Costa Ricans.
In fourth place in group F, Brazil still managed to eliminate Argentina from this dispute for a place in the next World Cup. The Albiceleste rivals were also fourth in their grouping, but had a worse campaign than the Brazilian team and said goodbye to the dream of competing in the competition to be held in Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia.
