Sergei Bazarevich appointed head coach of the basketball club “Samara” according to the team’s website.
The contract with the 57-year-old specialist is for two seasons.
Bazarevich has led the Russian national team since 2016. He was fired after the national team failed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. Previously, Bazarevich coached Dynamo Moscow, Krasnye Krylia, Lokomotiv-Kuban, Italian Kantu and Turkish Trabzonspor.
As a player, Bazarevich twice became vice-world champion and won the silver medal at the European Championship.
Samara played in Superleague 1 and is very likely to play in the VTB United League next season.
