Basketball player twice became NBA champion with the New York Knicks
Legendary New York Knicks center Willis Reed died at the age of 80.
As a player, Reid spent ten seasons in the National Basketball Association, playing consistently for the Knicks. Center twice became the champion of the NBA.
Reid was named to the Association’s All-Star Team five times and participated in seven All-Star Games. Willis is the first player in NBA history to be named League MVP, Finals MVP, and All-Star Game MVP in a single season (1969-70).
The center averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds per game. After his playing career ended, Reed was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame.
Willis later coached the Knicks before taking over Creighton before joining the New Jersey Nets in 1988. Reed is number 19 for the Knicks.
