Honored Basketball Coach of Russia Stanislav Yeremin comment on the recommendations International Olympic Committee (IOC) to prevent Russians from competing in team events at the Olympics, said Russian athletes will most likely be banned from international competitions for more than a year.
The IOC on Tuesday recommended that international sports federations allow Russian athletes who have not supported the CBO to participate in individual competitions in a neutral status. These guidelines do not apply to team sports.
– IOC recommendations do not apply to team events? In the current situation, we have to be prepared to be isolated for more than a year, no matter what they say. Even if someone is for us, we now have so many opponents who will be categorically against our participation in the Games! First of all, the Baltic countries, as well as some countries that were once more friendly with us. To be honest, we have to be prepared to live in the current situation for more than a year.
What should I think about if one of the athletes in the individual events performs in a neutral status? Today, talented athletes are deprived of the time during which they could achieve great success. I can neither argue nor condemn the athletes here. It’s everyone’s decision. Probably, according to his conscience, according to his education, according to his belonging to the state. There is only one life for each person. And he manages it. Everyone has their own opinion on this, – said Eremin “”.
On Wednesday, Lausanne will host the second day of the IOC Executive Board meeting.
