The coach does not exclude the option of combining work in the club and in one of the national teams
Head coach Prometheus Ronen Ginzburg intends to stay with the team next season.
“I have a contract with the club for next year and as far as I know our president wants to continue playing in the Eurocup. The only thing I don’t know yet is whether it will be in Latvia or in some other country. Of course, I would like to return to Ukraine and play in Dnipro, but the war continues to be a problem.”
“In general, it’s good that we constantly remind that Ukrainian basketball still exists – both at the club level and at the level of the national team. It’s good that the world sees it and that Ukraine sees it too. Therefore, I think that if nothing very serious happens, we will continue to play in Riga or in another city, and we will collect the squad for the next season.
“The question is where we will play – in the Eurocup or in the Euroleague. Because the budget of the team, and indeed everything, will depend on this.
“I told the federation a long time ago that I would leave the Czech national team before this summer. In the summer I will need to take some rest. In fact, I do not rule out that I can lead a national team with great ambitions and good players. But yes – Prometheus is my number one priority.”
Ginzburg has led Prometheus since April 2021. Under his leadership, the team became the champion of Ukraine for the first time in history.
Prometheus qualified for the Eurocup playoffs from the first place. In the 1/8 finals, the Ukrainian team will play with Hamburg.
