Head coach Prometheus Ronen Ginzburg commented on the result of the second leg of the 1/8 finals Eurocup with Hamburg.
“We played against a good team, yes, with a reduced squad, like ours, but the opponents showed throughout the season that they are a really strong team. A big victory for us, a big victory for the club, for Ukraine. It’s an incredible feeling.”
“We lost a few players, but we showed that the rest of the players pulled themselves together and did a great job. Yes, we were under pressure that this is the club’s first Eurocup play-off game and we have a number of injured players. During the game we had ups and downs. This was important to us because we lacked players and we showed that other players can plug in and do the work. It’s a great feeling because there was a lot of pressure on us – you work all year round and you lose the first game, it’s not good.”
“We didn’t have our point guards. The opponents played aggressively and we made mistakes. This is part of the game. We will work on it. Besides, I hope that the Haggadah will return. And the number of casualties should decrease.”
“Everyone knows how much I love Ilya Sidorov. He is a winner! This season he was injured, but he is a winner and thanks to that he is in the team.”
The wards of Ronen Ginzburg beat Hamburg (87:79) and reached the Eurocup quarterfinals. Ilya Sidorov scored 21 points in the match.
