Russia will not participate in the Olympic Basketball Tournament in Paris. The FIBAExecutive Committee decided not to allow the registration of the aggressor country in the 2023 pre-qualifiers.
Thus, Bulgaria, as the next highest ranked European team, will be the last team to take part in the Olympic pre-qualification tournaments. Participants in the European selection also include Ukraine, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey.
All teams are divided into two groups, the winner of each will receive the right to participate in the qualifying tournaments before Paris 2024. The pre-qualification matches will be held from 12 to 20 August 2023. The draw will take place on May 1st.
It will be remembered that earlier it was known that the Ukrainian national team will fight for one of the two tickets to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
