“Have you had any doubts? No need to wait for concessions from there ”- Eremin on the non-admission of Russian basketball players to the selection for the 2024 Olympics

Honored Coach of Russia Stanislav Yeremin told that the decision of the Executive Committee of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to exclude the national team Russia at the Olympiad-2024 qualifying tournament did not surprise him.

On Tuesday, the FIBA Executive Committee decided to deny the entry of the Russian men’s team to the 2023 Olympic pre-qualifiers.

Did you have any doubts about this? I have already said that it was for a long time, that we should not count on any indulgence or concession from then on. We must be prepared to remain in this isolation for quite a long time. And now we have to look for ways to survive for our basketball to grow,” Eremin told a correspondent.

In the selection, the Russian team will be replaced by the Bulgarian team as the next European team with the highest rating.

Due to the situation in Ukraine, Russian clubs and teams have been suspended from participating in tournaments under the auspices of FIBA.

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
