FIBA has announced that the Qataris and Germans will be the organizers of the next World Cups.
The International Basketball Federation announced this Friday Qatar will host the 2027 Men’s World Cupwhich will organize all matches in Doha, the capital of the country, while Germany will be in charge of hosting the said tournament in its women’s format in 2026.
“In making its decision, the FIBA Central Board was impressed by the offer and, in particular, by the elements around the geographical nature, the unique flexibility in the scheduling of the tournament venue to better serve the fans, as well as an emphasis on sustainability”, the agency highlighted in a statement. FIBA has had an impact on the fact that it has chosen Qatar as the organizer because it is “one of the best connected destinations in the world, with direct flights from most possible participating countries” in addition to reflecting on its new transport network, which was already used in the recent World Cup.

“Having all 32 participating teams in one city for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will present a unique opportunity for fans to personalize their World Cup experience by accessing with more personal matches than any other FIBA Basketball World Cup in the last twenty years. On the other hand, the international organization also announced that Germany will be the organizer of the 2026 Women’s Basketball World Cup. An event that it has already organized in 1998. The FIBAWomen’s Basketball World Cup 2026 will take place in September 2026 in Berlin and will be performed in two venues, the Arena Berlin and the Max-Schmeling Halle. An award in which the “success” of the German country as co-host in the last Eurobasket is taken into account.
“They hosted the Final Phase of the prestigious competition in the German capital, Berlin, as well as the Group Phase in Cologne, considering the event as one of the most successful editions in history”FIBA said in a statement.
