In April, the center of Moscow literally soaked up the atmosphere of sports: Arbat Hall became the venue for Liga Stavok MEDIA BASKET – not just a basketball tournament, but a real spectacle with bright performances of artists, stars on the ground and stands, as well as press conferences and challenges!
The finale will offer us a rich program – in addition to intense games, fans will have a performance by one of the most prominent representatives of the rap industry PHARAOH. Basketball and rap culture have had a strong connection for a long time, so the atmosphere this coming Sunday will definitely be hot!
The highlight of the final day will be the dunk contest – all the magic of spectacular steals and powerful finishes awaits the audience at the Arbat Hall!
A total of 12 teams participated in the season. Based on the results of seven rounds, eight playoff participants were determined. The quarter-finals were: Rodina Media, Karas Team, Sayonara Boys, Reality, AVG, GOATS, 2DROTS and B1BOX Stav Liga. Rodina Media, Sayonara Boys, AVG and 2DROTS reached the League semi-finals.
Rodina Media’s team, played by Alexander Tarasov (T-Killah), looked more confident than the rest during the group stage. Midway through the regular season, Rodina took the top spot in the table, which they retained. Their leader Alexander Petrunenko (Alex Petru) became one of the main snipers of the tournament and received the title of MVP in the third round.
The opponent of the T-Killah gang in the ½ final will be the team of rapper LJ – Sayonara Boys. Sayonara made it through the regular season steadily, and in the quarter-finals entered the tournament’s biggest team – Reality, led by former NBA player and one of Russia’s biggest people, Pavel Podkolzin ( 223cm). Denis Bergman (Berg) was a key factor in reaching the next stage, scoring points in a completely different way.
AVG are the only team of four semi-finalists who do not represent Moscow: they travel to the League from Saint Petersburg. The ideological inspiration and the main media representative of the team is Alexey Mironov (xLesherx). AVG leads the tournament in terms of the number of dunks, which is absolutely not surprising: they are represented by the world champion in aerial throws Alexander Shalygin (Shal), as well as two current professional dunkers – Alexey Shilov ( Matrasflywhite) and Ilya Gerasimov (Ilyagera).
AVG will play with 2DROTS to reach the final. For media football, darts have long been a real brand, and in basketball, the team has the highest goals. 2DROTS is the only MEDIA BASKET Liga Stavok team, whose players have become MVP of the round twice: Egor Gatin (Gatos) in fifth and Mikhail Gunter (Gun23ter) in seventh.
