Euroleague bans Real Madrid player Yabusele for five matches for fighting

The Euroleague disciplinary referee has suspended Real Madrid striker Gershon Yabusele for five matches following a mass brawl in the game against Partizan Belgrade, the tournament’s press service reports.

The second meeting of the quarter-final playoffs was held in Madrid on Thursday and was called off at the end of the fourth quarter after Real Madrid’s Sergio Yul grossly fouled Partizan’s Kevin Panter. A fight started with the participation of players from both teams, the match ended earlier than expected. When the game was stopped, the score was 95:80 in favor of Partizan.

Panter is suspended for two matches, Gabriel Dec (Real Madrid) and Mathias Lessor (Partizan) for one.

The clubs were fined 50,000 euros each “for unsportsmanlike behavior by both teams which prevented the normal progress of the match”.

The score of the series is 2-0 in favor of the Serbian club, the third match will take place on May 2 in Belgrade.
