Ukraine has identified its rivals in the upcoming prequalification of the Olympic basketball tournament. It should be noted that during the draw our team, according to its own FIBA ​​rating, entered the third basket. Therefore, he must play the matches of his qualifying quartet in Turkish Istanbul.

In the end, the blind lot was cruel to the “blue-yellows” and they were sent to the same group with the hosts of the tournament. In addition to Turkey, the Ukrainians will also face the teams of Bulgaria and Iceland.

The results of the prequalification draw for the Olympics:

Group A: Czech Republic, North Macedonia, Israel, Estonia.

Group B: Portugal, Poland, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Group C: Turkey, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Iceland

Group D: Netherlands, Croatia, Belgium, Sweden

Note that the games of groups A and B will be held in Estonia and Poland, respectively. In each such quartet, a round-robin tournament will be played (each team against each other). The first two teams of the group will advance to the semi-finals, where they will continue to fight for a ticket. It will be awarded to the winner of the G8 final. At the same time, the semi-finals and the finals will be held in the format of one match.

The matches will take place: August 12-16, 2023 – group stage, August 18 – semi-finals, August 20 – finals.
